Jesus Is the intercessor

This message was shared during our Evening Worship gathering, held every Sunday at 7pm at All Saints Church, Taradale. We’re currently walking through a series called “Jesus Is”, created by Rev. Alan Burnett — exploring who Jesus is, not just in history, but in our lives today.

Last Sunday, we reflected on a beautiful truth: Jesus is the Intercessor — the One who stands before the Father on our behalf.

To intercede means to speak for someone else, to step in the gap, to give voice to the voiceless. In that sense, Jesus isn’t just praying for us occasionally; He lives to intercede. His very presence before the Father is a continuous act of love and advocacy.

During the message, we looked at an illustration from this image of a court of justice, where a lawyer passionately defends those who’ve been denied justice. It’s a glimpse — though imperfect — of what Jesus does for us. He stands before the only perfectly just Judge, appealing not based on our innocence, but on the power of His own righteousness.

The Gospels show us that Jesus lived a life of prayer. He prayed at His baptism, before miracles, before the cross, and even for those who betrayed Him. Yet His ministry of prayer didn’t end at Calvary — it continues in heaven.

As Hebrews 7:25 says, “He always lives to intercede for those who come to God through Him.”

That means when you feel unheard, He speaks for you. When you can’t find words, He carries your prayers. When guilt tries to silence you, His blood speaks louder than your shame.

Right now — not just once, long ago, but in this very moment — Jesus is praying for you.

He intercedes for your strength, your healing, your faith. The same Jesus who said to Peter, “I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail,” says the same to us today.

So, come boldly to the throne of grace. Bring your weakness, your worries, your weariness.

There, seated at the right hand of God, is your Advocate — steadfast, merciful, and always speaking your name.

Jesus is the Intercessor. And that changes everything.
