Our Vision

We aspire to play our part in building God’s kingdom in which all people flourish through the proclamation of the gospel, evangelisation of our region, revitalisation of the local church and the equipping of the saints.

We believe we will achieve this by helping people to speak hope, be light, and know grace in their lives.

Ko te mea nui? Ko te aroha

The greatest thing is love...

Taradale Anglican is a community of churches and congregations whose deepest wish is for all people to know the transformative

power of the Good News of Jesus Christ. As wholly as we can, we want to give ourselves to the work of the Holy Spirit as God renews

lives and his church across the region and our nation. To be part of this, we believe we are called to be a community that expresses

grace, boldness, persistence, courage, love and hospitality such that, in us, something of the God we worship can be seen.

As churches, we have been in Napier for 150 years. Our worshipping communities and service have been at the heart of Napier,

Puketapu and Crownthorpe for generations - and we aim to be there for another century again.

As a church we stand within the Anglican tradition. As such, we belong to a wider body of churches called the Diocese of Waiapu and to

the international Anglican Communion. We are a mixed tradition, holding to those things from ancient times that serve the church and

God, while constantly reforming to ensure we are able to meet God in what God is doing right now, today. In our communities, that

means that sometimes there are robes and structured liturgy, other times there is unstructured contemporary worship. Sometimes we

we will hand you a prayer book, and sometimes we throw the book away, get on the floor with the kids, and do crafts and activities

that connect them with God.

If that all sounds a little messy and unclear, you're right. We don't get caught up in looking the part for anyone. Instead, we want to

worship the God that has called us all to be saints in the kingdom of heaven and who meets us in Christ, the Son.

If that is a bit of you, or if you are intrigued, come along. To understand us, you have to worship with us.
