Lead your community

Leadership is a gift from God, and knowing where it is best directed is a challenge the church will discern with you. In the church, we offer licenced lay ministry alongside the ordained roles of deacon, priest and bishop. These each have a particular focus and purpose. You can learn more by exploring our church's catechism.
Church Leadership
Outside of the gathered church context, we actively seek to support and uplift you in the spaces you are called. Perhaps this is in an employed place, perhaps it is in a voluntary area, perhaps it is in your home. When the gospel is taking to heart, it is impossible not to lead others and to stand in the breach for others.
Community Leadership
Our whakapapa is deeply tied to major and monumental social changes and efforts for justice. We support the work of multiple other charities, but particularly our social services arm, Anglican Care Waiapu. You can learn more about them and how to support their work by visiting their website.
Social Services
The work of oversight and strategic leadership is key to bring a future we all want to see into perspective. Across our parish, diocese and province there are multiple levels of governance and oversight that you may be called to step into. if you have a particular gift in this area, we are always on the lookout.

Be Formed
Take this as a sign.
God is calling you!
In the words of the Prophet Joel, God spoke a promise to a generation that was yet to come,
"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions."
We believe that, in Christ, the Church is that generation. It is a vision that is intergenerational, redemptive, confronting and transformative. It is an outpouring of God's goodness into the hearts and spirits of ordinary people. Formation is our word for what the scriptures call sanctification, which is the process of growing into the saint that God has called you to be.

LEARN TO SERVE
The beginning of Christian formation is always the service of others. Jesus declares that he came to serve others and that no one is greater than their master.
We have countless ways to serve both within church gatherings and in mission to the wider city, nation and world. Click here to learn more about some of these pathways and how you can start speaking hope, being light and knowing grace.
GROW IN FAITH
There is a paradox at the heart of the gospel. It is both the most simple thing in the world, but with reflection opens to be a palace of wonder that will have you seeking more for the rest of your life.
For Christians, learning is about the reformation of our imagination and loyalties from the kingdom of this world to the kingdom of God. Click here to explore some of our learning pathways.
LEAD YOUR COMMUNITY
When the gospel really takes root in your life, you will lead. It may be yourself, your family, your neighbourhood, or it may be a nation, a church or a company. God calls us to faithfulness and love - this looks like leadership in the lives of those receiving it.
Leading is not about us, it is about stepping into the spaces God calls in the power of the Spirit. Click here to see how we can help prepare you for this calling.
