Over the coming weekend, we celebrate All Saints' day, the feast of title for All Saints' Church and a chance for our community to give thanks for 150 years of worship and witness.
Following our civic celebration in June, on the same day the church was consecrated 150 years ago, we committed to celebrating more as a family and community - in a more All Saints' way. This weekend gives us the chance. Here are the ways you can be involved.
Saturday, 1 November from 6:30pm - Sesquicentenary Dinner
A three course meal with a capacity of 80 (contact the church office, tickets may still be available). This will be a communal affair, with members past and present coming together to reminesce and celebrate. The evening will include entertainment provided by a Magic Lantern Show, first demonstrated in the late 1890's at All Saints', alongside an auction following dessert.
Sunday, 2 November
8am Service:
Join us at 8am with the Reverend Steven Hayes preaching and the organ masterfully worked by Sean Scanlen as we celebrate the church of All Saints together in a traditional eucharist.
9am - Pot Luck Morning Tea
Bring along a plate and celebrate with members from across our congregations, sharing stories and breaking bread together. A particular highlight of this will be the chance to write a letter to the future congregation of All Saints' church and place it within a time capsule to be buried and recovered in 2075 - 50 years from the date of burial.
10:30 (ish) Service:
Gather with our family service to celebrate in a different style as we remember the faithfullness of generations together. This will be a communion service with contemporary worship music and a children's ministry programme.
7:00pm Evening Worship
A relaxed and informal evening of worship and word where we can tell the story of All Saints and of Jesus in a new way, connection ancient ways with present experience in an endeavour to help more people encounter Jesus and a community of grace.
