More than most, we are aware of how hard it can be to set foot anywhere near a church or Christian community. Between the classic lines of 'the place will burn down if I walk through the doors' to 'I really have to sort my life out before I try and work out the God thing', there are lots of underlying assumptions. Our response is that we follow a God who, in Jesus Christ, had abuse hurled at him because he hung out with the wrong people. He was called a sinner and a traitor because he sat with those the religious people of the day found unacceptable. That is the model we aspire to be - to be a church that is slandered because it hangs out with the 'wrong people'. Even if the place did catch fire, we are well insured. You're relationship with God matters more.
